FAQ: FAQ

How is Dr. Schlute different?

Whether you've experienced Chiropractic before, or this is your first visit to our office, you will find a relaxing office, world class adjusting, cutting edge technology, and superior healing to get you back on your feet as soon as possible.

What can I expect at my Consultation, Exam and Adjustment?

The initial visit will consist first of filling out a brief 5 min health history form. A concise comprehensive consultation/exam is then performed to discover what your issue may be, and to determine what treatment would be best for you. After the exam, you will be treated on the first day if you choose to do so. You remain fully clothed for the duration of the entire visit, so we recommend you wear non-restrictive clothing to make it more comfortable during the treatment. Portions of your adjustment may be performed while you are face down, on your side, sitting upright, or lying on your back. Everything is explained thoroughly beforehand and during the treatment, so there are no surprises. The first visit will last approximately 30-45 minutes, with subsequent visits lasting between 5-20 minutes depending on your problem.

What is the Popping Sound During an Adjustment?

The popping sounds often heard during an adjustment are tiny pockets of gas and pressure inside the joint being released. The Chiropractor isn't really moving bones around, he/she is simply giving a quick push to the stuck area/subluxation which gaps the joint a very tiny amount. Your muscles and body do all the correction according to your body's own innate intelligence. Said another way, the Chiropractor simply nudges your body in the direction it is already trying to go in order to heal.

Is Chiropractic Care Safe?

Getting a specific Chiropractic adjustment from a highly trained professinoal Chiropractor is one of the safest things you can do for your body. Chiropractic is the largest, non-invasive, drugless, safest form of health care available in the world today. Statistically, patient risk is substantially lower when receiving Chiropractic care as opposed to conventional medical care, where the use of prescription drugs and surgery can pose a much greater risk to one's health.

Does Chiropractic Care Hurt?

A Chiropractic adjustment is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort, because minimal force and gentle pressure are used. In fact, most patients feel relief immediately following treatment.

Will I be Sore following a Chiropractic Adjustment?

Any reported soreness after an initial adjustment has been described as similar to that associated with starting a new exercise program. Doing things like drinking plenty of water afterwards, using an ice pack on any sore areas, and engaging in light stretching after your first visit (and subsequent visits) can help ease any discomfort and promote faster healing also.

How Long will my Visits Take?

This can vary, but depending on the severity and length of time of your condition, the initial exam and treatment may last as much as 45 minutes. Follow-up visits are much less, often as little as 3-20 minutes depending on your issue.

How Often will I need to Return?

We get this question a lot. At the end of your first visit, your doctor will determine the best course of treatment for your individual  needs. The frequency in which you receive chiropractic care is strictly up to you and the professional judgment of the Chiropractor, and will vary depending on your individual condition and goals. Just as regular visits to the dentist are necessary for good dental hygiene, routine visits to a Chiropractor are also important for proper spinal hygiene, health, and function.
Our chiropractors treat patients by delivering a specific chiropractic adjustment. If, during the course of your exam, the doctor feels that care is contraindicated, you will be referred to the appropriate healthcare provider and/or facility.
